Museum Aceh

Museum of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam was established on July 31, 1915 with the name of Atjeh Museum led by F.W Stammeshous and the inauguration of the opening when it is done by civilian and military governor General H.N.A. Swart.

In the early days the building was just Rumoh Aceh , which is a modification of traditional Aceh house building coming from Aceh in the exhibition pavilion Colonial ( De Koloniale Testooteling ) in Semarang , held between 31 August to 15 November 1914.

Besides exhibiting private collections F.W Stammeshous ( Atjeh Museum Curator ) Pavilion Aceh that time also showed off a variety of heirloom princes Paviluin Aceh so that they show up as pavilions of the most complete collections and earn 4 gold medals, 11 silver medals , 3 bronze medals and a plaque of appreciation as the best pavilion.

The success on F.W Stammeshous propose to the Aceh governor H.N.A Swart that the pavilion was brought back to Aceh to be Atjeh Museum which was inaugurated July 31, 1915 in Banda Aceh.

After the independence of Indonesia Aceh Museum operated alternately , organized by the local government level II Banda Aceh until 1969 , the Board of Trustees clumps Iskandar Muda until 1975 , the Ministry of Education and Culture until 2002, And to this day operational Banda Aceh Museum is under the authority of Government of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam.

Until 2003 Museum N.A.D manage 5328 collection of cultural objects of various types , and 12,445 books of various titles that contain various kinds of knowledge.
