Aceh Tsunami Museum

Aceh Tsunami Museum is located in the center of Banda Aceh , not far from Masjid Raya Baiturrahman.

Aceh Tsunami Museum is a museum to commemorate the events terrifying tsunami that hit Aceh on December 26, 2004 which claimed more than 240,000 people died.

The function of the Aceh Tsunami Museum today is: As the object of history , where the Aceh Tsunami Museum will be a center for research and learning about the tsunami disaster. As a symbol of the strength of the Acehnese people in the face of the tsunami disaster.

As a legacy to future generations in Aceh in the form of messages that have occurred in the area of tsunami . To remind in the region of the danger of earthquake and tsunami that threatens Indonesian territory.

This is because Indonesia is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire , a belt of volcanoes, and the path surrounding the Pacific Basin. Ring of Fire region is an area that is frequently hit by earthquakes can trigger tsunamis.

Aceh Tsunami Museum building was built on the initiative of several agencies that also serves committee.

Among the Agency for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Aceh and Nias as with the development budget.

Department of Energy and Mineral Resources as with budget planning , study content and provider of museum collections and museum management guidelines.

Government of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam as a land provider and manager of the museum , the Government of the Municipality of Banda Aceh as a provider of infrastructure museum environment.
